American Style and Spirit (Temporary Exhibit)

American Style and Spirit: 150 Years of the Fashions and Lives of an Entrepreneurial Family was a temporary exhibit at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation from November 2016 through April 2017. I was the lead designer on the project, and produced all graphic design.
For each of about a dozen story zones, I developed layouts and a layered graphic system including panels and labels, as well as custom vinyl wallpaper.
Round islands allowed for easy circulation and for visitors to find their own way around the exhibit, since sequence of islands visited was not specifically important.
Another element of the graphic set was the hanging image collages, which allowed more of the rich archival resources to be displayed without clogging up text panels or wall graphics.
The exhibit's logo, and basis for the full identity set.
This is an example of the large content panels throughout the exhibit. Though more text-heavy than some of the others, it shows the variety of information that the panels could contain.
The final exhibit floorplan, showing the main exhibit zone, children's activity area, and final film viewing area.
The exhibit entrance mirrored the graphic format inside on a larger scale.
